Research Thrusts

In the News

To better prepare the department to respond to large, collaborative interdisciplinary research requests for proposals, we are organized into six research groups or "thrusts". Our department also has four technical areas: Design and Dynamic Systems, Energy-Thermo-Fluids, Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering, and Solid Mechanics. These areas of specialization provide a solid foundation for a diverse curriculum and innovative research.

To stay at the forefront of technology, these thrusts are designed to encourage intra-department technical areas, inter-department, inter-college/school, and inter-university collaboration. With limitless possibilities for interdisciplinary investigation and collaboration, the research groups engage more faculty members in research activities and foster synergy across the department and the university.

Michigan Technological University is an equal opportunity educational institution/equal opportunity employer.
